BRICKS Workspace

From BRICKS Developer Community

One of the main goals of BRICKS is to create a comprehensive and usable web-interface to the Foundation Bricks - the so-called BRICKS Workspace. The final version of the BRICKS Workspace should provide access to the collection-, content-, and metadata-repositories in different ways. Two aspects are most important here:

  • the granularity of data display (e.g. browsing by different criteria (collections, metadata attributes)
  • the target audience (e.g. Bricks end-users, cultural institutions, art experts, etc.)

The BRICKS Workspace web application will demonstrate most of the functionality implemented by the various Bricks Foundation Services.

The basic Bricks foundation functionalities that may be invoked by Bricks users include

  • viewing/adding/updating/removing content from the collection-, content- and metadata-repositories
  • content (documents, pictures, or media files) may be added to the repository, then checked-out, updated, and removed.
  • searching and browsing the BRICKS repository
    • full-text search on metadata records (simple search)
    • metadata-based search for basic characteristics (advanced search)
  • managing collections
    • browsing/creating/moving/removing collections; adding and removing objects to and from collections
    • support of nested collections
  • annotation support
    • display of annotations
    • creation/deletion of text and structured annotations via the web-frontend
